Privacy policy
How Distinct Mastering collects, uses, and protects your information. Short version: we only collect what we need to deliver your masters and respond to inquiries. Last updated April 2026 (effective January 1, 2025).
Introduction
Distinct Mastering ("we," "us," "our") operates the website at distinctmastering.com and provides professional audio mastering, mixing, and production services. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information you share with us when you visit the site, submit a contact form, send files for mastering, or subscribe to our email list.
By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described below.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to deliver our services and respond to you. Specifically:
Contact details. Name, email address, and any information you voluntarily include in a contact-form message or email.
Project files. Audio files (WAV, AIFF, stems) you send for mastering, mixing, or production, along with any session notes you attach.
Payment information. Processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles all payment data under their own PCI-compliant systems.
Technical data. Basic analytics: IP address, browser type, referring page, pages visited. Used only to understand site performance.
How we use it
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver mastering, mixing, and production services you've requested
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
- Process payments and send invoices or receipts
- Send service-related emails (project updates, delivery notifications)
- Send marketing emails — only if you've opted in, and you can unsubscribe any time
- Improve the website and understand how visitors use it
- Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes
Data security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information, including SSL encryption on the website and secure cloud storage for files you send us. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe on their PCI-compliant infrastructure — we never see or store card details ourselves. Your masters and source files remain your property; we hold them only as long as needed to deliver the service and keep a reasonable backup window.
No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (California, EU, UK, etc.), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@distinctmastering.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Our services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
Policy changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Significant changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site. Continued use of our services after changes means you accept the revised policy.
